Welcome 2 Commercial and Tourist Hotel......

commercial and tourist hotel

Our family hotel was completely re-built to 3 star standards in 1999, and is situated just a few hundred yards away from the Ballinamore / Ballyconnell Canal in the heart of the greenest and most uncluttered part of Ireland.

Located in the centre of lovely Leitrim, it offers breathtaking drives and pleasant walks. If fishing is your sport, Ballinamore is one of the best developed angling centres in Ireland located in one of the "big catch" Lakeland District.

A visit to Ireland is a must for any keen angler. With a large selection of exciting coarse fishing, every taste and skill level can be accommodated.

However, Irish pastimes are varied, and as such the visitor to Ireland can expect to enjoy glorious days jam-packed with exciting activities such as golf, horse riding, and cruises.

There are also hundreds of miles of spectacular scenic walks taking you through Ireland's heart and heritage.

Take a look below at a little of what's on offer at the Commercial and Tourist Hotel...

There are 28 lakes within a 5 mile radius of the town of Ballinamore , and 11 miles of the Woodford River. All these waters can be fished from the bank or from fishing stands. These waters are continually monitored for their fishing quality by the local Angling Association. Fishing is free all year around and maps of all local waters are provided. Fishing in Ballinamore is varied - from the Tench and Rudd fishing of lakes Willowfield, Corgor, Bolganard, Drumlonan and Corduff to the Bream and Roach fishing of lakes Gardice, Drumcoura, Keenheen, Drumlea, Scur, Templeport and Lakefield. These are just to name a few of the fishing and angling destinations closeby.

Cruises
Experience the gentle pace of life on the Shannon-Erne Waterway as you meander through the beautifully restored cut-stone Victorian locks. Cruises are suitable for individuals, families, groups and companies. Since the canal has been refurbished, it is now one of the most modern in Europe.

Golfing
Ballinamore Golf Club lies alongside the Woodford River, 1.5 miles outside the town. The course is 9 holes and is playable all year around. Visitors, whether expert or beginner, are very welcome to this uncrowded course- green fees are payable.

Historical Interest
The ruins of Fenagh Abbey, the site of the ancient pagan worship at Crom Cruach and the Tully dolmen are among the places of interest to the historically minded. There is also a museum in the town and a guide to places of historical interest.

Leitrim Genealogy Centre
If your ancestors came from Co. Leitrim and you would like to find out about them, the Leitrim Genealogy Centre will endeavour to compile a Family History report for you. The centre has been set up to deal with enquiries from people who want to trace their Leitrim ancestors. All the available sources have now been gathered in one place as the Leitrim Genealogy Centre and Leitrim County Library have combined to provide a full time professional genealogy service for County Leitrim.
